About this column:

Visions for Vacancies is when we ask readers what they would like to see go into open storefronts and parcels.
The Hersey Jewelers officially closed this year. What do you think should go into that space? Hersey Jewelers was a family-owned fine jewelry shop that also assisted with estate sales and purchases as well as appraisals. The space is small, about 475 square feet according to the Reading Planning Department. Another jewelry store may work in that space. Or a small boutique. What do you think should replace Hersey Jewelers? Tell us in the comments section below.
The Sears on Main Street in North Reading closed this past summer. What do you think should replace it? According to the store's Spokesperson Kimberly Freely, the store closed because their lease was not renewed.  What do you think should go into the large space? Another hardware store? A furniture store? A place like the Christmas Tree Shop? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
Curio Salon on Main Street in North Reading recently closed. What do you think should go in the vacant space? Another salon? A consignment store? An ice cream shop? Something completely different?  As part of our new Visions for Vacancies column, we want to know what you would like to see go into that location. Let us know in the comments section.
Calareso's Farm Stand recently moved a block away from their old location on Main Street. They now have more space inside and out. The former location, next to Harrows, is still vacant. What do you think should go in the vacant building? A restaurant? Retail shop? Bakery?  As part of our new Visions for Vacancies column, we want to know what you would like to see go into that location. Let us know in the comments section.
Izzy's Designer Clothing Warehouse on Main Street in North Reading is closed. What do you think should go in the vacant building? Another boutique? An ice cream shop? Something completely different?  As part of our new Visions for Vacancies column, we want to know what you would like to see go into that location. Let us know in the comments section.
Lew's Mobil on Park Street in North Reading closed last May after 46 years. What do you think should go in the vacant lot? Another gas station? An extension of Ryers? A retail store? As part of our new Visions for Vacancies column, we want to know what you would like to see go into that location. Let us know in the comments section.
The former Registry of Motor Vehicles location on Salem Street in Reading has been vacant since the state moved the local registry branch to Wilmington in 2007. The 17,500 square-foot space at 273-275 Salem St., is just off the highway and is sandwiched between REI and Dunkin’ Donuts.  In its flyer about the property, Boylston Realty listed 202 parking spaces and average daily traffic counts of 14,900 vehicles on Salem Street and 153,022 on Route 95/128. So, we want to know – what would you like to go at the former Registry location? Does a department store make sense? How about a bargain …
