Families flock to the Burbank Ice Arena for the largest "on-ice" balloon drop in the country! Doors open at 5:45p.m.,  ....Noisemakers, party hats and face painting are included in the admission price...Family skating proceeds from  6:00 to 6:45, at which time the New Year is toasted with Sierra Mist, provided by Pepsi Cola Company, the ice is then resurfaced....the scoreclock counts down from 6:00p.m. until 7:30p.m., at which time the balloons and gifts descend from the ceiling to the ice. Skating continues until 8:00p.m.......This year will also feature a ceremony sprinkling the Burbank Ice surface with TD Garden 2011 Icewater, which was sent to the Burbank by the Boston Bruins, to spread their Stanley Cup Championship Success throughout the area. Skaters are encouraged to bring their own skates, as rental skates historically run low during this popular event....

Operated by the Reading Ice Arena Authority, Burbank Ice Arena is a skating rink that offers open public skating as well as private lessons held by the North Shore Skating Club. The open skate schedule can be viewed on its Web site.

Burbank Arena hosts hockey practice and games. Skate rentals and skate sharpening are available on-site. The arena can be rented for public or private events under certain restrictions. Birthday packages are offered, providing each guest with admission, drink and a pizza slice. Discount cards are for sale. For more information, call the number provided or visit the Web site.
