A Nordic fishing boat finds a young woman adrift on an iceberg in the North Atlantic. She appears neither rich nor destitute. Rather, she wears the clothing typical of a working class woman of the early twentieth century. She utters but one word, "Titanic." In 1912, this would have been a miraculous story in the midst of profound tragedy.
But it's not 1912. It's the 1990s. The rescue is not a miracle to be celebrated but a puzzle to be solved. So begins Scotland Road, which runs March 1 through 16 at Quannapowitt Playhouse. As her interrogator presses the woman for answers, this suspenseful mystery by Jeffrey Hatcher features plot twists of Titanic proportions.
Directed by Ron Wackowski, the play features Barbara Bourgeois, Amy Cafazzo, Jon Nuquist and Liz Robbins, and will be performed on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, March 10. For tickets and more information, go to www.qptheater.com, or call 781-942-2212.
