Girls Power Event Begins Tuesday in Reading

Here are five things happening in Reading on Tuesday.

1. Happening Tuesday: The Reading Recreation Department is offering a six-week program for grade school girls that is designed to inspire girls to be strong, smart and healthy, according to the group's Patch event page. The class will run weekly from October 1 to November 5 from 3:15-4:15 p.m. at Parker Middle School.

2. Balance Workshop: The Reading Senior Center also begins a weekly session on Tuesday, this one which lasts eight weeks and runs from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The Matter of Balance Workshop is intended to reduce senior citizens' fear of falling.

3. Rockets in Action: The Reading High School girls field hockey team is scheduled to host Woburn at 3:30 p.m., while the boys and girls cross country team holds a home meet at 3:45 p.m.

4. ICYMI: In case you missed it, the Reading football team couldn't overcome visiting Arlington on Friday night. It was the Rockets' first loss since 2011.

5. Sunny Day: According to the National Weather Service, skies will be sunny on Tuesday and temperatures will rise to 74 degrees on the day. Rain is not expected, and there will be a light breeze throughout the afternoon.
