Library Trustees to Update on Building Status

Here are five things to start your Thursday in Reading.

1. Happening Thursday: The Reading Board of Library Trustees and Building Committee hold a joint meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. inside Reading Public Library. The only item on the agenda is a building status update.

2. Marching Band Competition: Reading Memorial High School will host the NESBA Marching Band Show on Saturday, Oct. 19, on its home turf from 5-10 p.m. The Rockets will perform between 8 and 8:30 p.m. Admission to the event is $10 for adults and $8 for students.

3. Rockets in Action: Four Rocket teams play on Thursday. The golf team hits the links in a home contest at 3:30 p.m., the boys soccer team is in Stoneham at 3:45 p.m., the girls soccer team hosts Stoneham at 3:45 p.m. and the girls swimming team hits the pool in Lexington at 5:30 p.m.

4. Speaking of Rockets: Make sure you catch up on how the local teams are doing, as we provided an update on the standings near the midway point of the season.

5. Partly Sunny: According to the National Weather Service, skies will be partly sunny on Thursday with a high temperature around 64 degrees. A slight chance of rain will arrive between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m.
