Meetings, Volleyball and Divorced Dad Confessions

Here are five things to start your Wednesday in Reading.

1. Happening Wednesday: There are four meetings scheduled for Wednesday in Reading. The BFSI Subcommittee gathers at 6 p.m., the Conservation Commission holds a 7 p.m. meeting, the Economic Development Committee gathers at 7 p.m. and the Board of Library Trustees is in action at 7:30 p.m.

2. Bump, Set, Spike: The Reading High School volleyball team is the only Rocket squad to play on Wednesday. The varsity team is in action at 4 p.m. on its home floor while the freshman and JV teams also play on the day.

3. Haunted House: If you're looking for some Halloween action this weekend, it might be worth the short trip to Tewksbury. Check out the Patch announcement for the event that will be hosted Friday and Sunday at Merrimack Valley Pavilion.

4. Divorced Dad Confessions: Have you seen the first in a series of blogs by Patch Community Editor Bill Gilman? He'll offer "Confessions of a Divorced Dad" on a weekly basis, so be sure to check back each week for his thoughts on a wide variety of subject.

5. Fall Conditions: According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will reach about 62 degrees on Wednesday. Skies will be sunny and no rain is expected.
