Reading Police Department Hosts Lunch n' Learn

Here are five things to start your Thursday in Reading.

1. Happening Thursday: The Reading Police Department invites residents to join them for lunch while they learn about public safety and emergency awareness for seniors. The session, which features beef stew for lunch, takes place at 49 Pleasant Street and requires residents to have signed up in advance.

2. Rockets in Action: The Reading High School field hockey team plays on the road versus Wakefield at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The golf team, meanwhile, hits the links against Woburn at Meadowbrook Golf Club with tee time at 3:45 p.m.

3. Heat Continues: According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will be hot again on Thursday, rising to 85 degrees. There is a 20 percent chance of rain on the day, though skies will be mostly sunny otherwise.

4. Board Meetings: The Board of Health meets at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday while the Zoning Board of Appeals holds a 7 p.m. meeting.
