Club Triumph pays a visit to Reading Co-operative Bank

Recently, employees of Reading Co-operative Bank hosted young adults from the Triumph Center’s life skills program, Club Triumph, in Reading.  The Triumph Center is a child and adolescent counseling program that specializes in developing social skills through activity-based groups and a therapeutic summer camp. For over twenty years, the Triumph Center has also provided traditional counseling services for children, adolescents, young adults and families, as well as special education consultation to schools in the greater Boston and North Shore areas.

The Club Triumph group heard presentations about banking, resume writing, interviewing skills, and internet security from staff members of the Bank including the marketing department, information technology, human resources, and branch managers.  Julieann Thurlow, President & CEO of the Bank, spoke to the group about her role and her responsibility for the growth and development of the Bank.  In addition, she spoke about how education plays an important role in job growth and the steps she took in her own personal career path.

"It was a pleasure hosting the young adults from Club Triumph. The participants were engaged and asked informed questions," says Sandy Convery, Branch Manager of the Reading office.

"I am so impressed with the level of commitment and caring about the community I have seen with everyone I have come in contact with at the Reading Co-operative Bank. Their generous sharing of time and resources to help our Club Triumph participants learn more about money management and job-seeking skills far exceeded all our expectations. Our group came away with skills that are essential to their success as independent adults,” says Rob Smith, a licensed psychologist and director of the Clinical and Young Adult Services at Triumph Center in Reading.
