Reading Co-operative Bank Contributes to Friends of North Reading Parks and Recreation

READING, MA- Reading Co-operative Bank recently donated $2,000 to the Friends of North Reading Parks and Recreation to support the 2013 Ipswich River Park barbecue and summer concert series. Proceeds from the concert and barbeque series will benefit park maintenance and improvements to Ipswich River Park and its facilities. The annual concert series is a family-friendly event that brings community members of all ages together for music, food and fun. More information can be found at www.northreadingma.gov under Parks and Recreation.

“This is another great way Reading Co-operative Bank gives back to the community.  I volunteered at several of the barbeques last year and loved seeing so many families and their children enjoying the entertainment.  I am looking forward to this year’s events,” says Nancy Brown, North Reading Branch Manager for Reading Co-operative Bank.

“The North Reading Parks & Recreation Department and Friends of North Reading Parks & Recreation are sponsoring our annual summer concert/barbecue series.  Hundreds of events have taken place at Ipswich River Park since its opening in 1997 but none are more requested or enjoyed than the annual summer concert/barbecue series.  The concerts provide music from all genres and the children’s entertainers vary from jugglers, puppet shows, high-flying frisbee dogs, curious creatures and fabulous magicians.  The barbecue menu include hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage, peppers & onions, barbecue chicken, homemade salads, watermelon, fruit salad, ice cold drinks and ice cream treats.  Our business sponsors allow us to put together this wonderful series and the barbeque provides a fundraising opportunity for the park.  Ipswich River Park is a hidden treasure and is the “Jewel of North Reading,” says Maureen Stevens, Operations Director/ Department Head of North Reading Parks & Recreation.
