Burbank YMCA Goes to the Dogs

First "Puppy Swim" event raises money for charity — and even attracts a celebrity!

It's not every day you can bring your dog to the YMCA for a swim, but thanks to a charity fundraiser event on Sunday, people were allowed to do just that.

The Burbank YMCA hosted its first "Puppy Swim" event Sunday, Aug. 25, in the small pool. For just $20, dogs were allowed to take a dip in the pool and splash around. Then, the pool was drained for its annual cleaning.

The event brought in several dogs, including local celebrity Ray Charles the Golden Retriever. The blind dog has a large following on Facebook and was quite popular among both humans and animals.

The event was a joint effort between the YMCA and Bark n' Roll Canine Care

All proceeds were collected for the YMCA Annual Fund, which "ensures that no one gets turned away for the inability to pay and everyone regardless of age, ability, background and income has to opportunity to learn, grow and thrive," according to Y materials.
