The "Tempesta 2 Mile"

The Tempesta family lost their father unexpectedly last year, leaving Laura (mom) to care for 3 young children on her own.......2 of them struggling with challenges of Rett syndrome every day. Rett syndrome is a neuro-developmental disorder seen primarily in girls and women in all racial and ethnic groups worldwide. Considered rare, Rett syndrome affects about 1 in 10,000 females. Rett syndrome leaves all children and women totally dependent on others for all of their basic needs such as feeding, dressing, bathing, and toileting.

An event to support the girls, Ava and Juliana, and their syndrome is currently under way......."The Tempesta 2 Mile""The Tempesta 2 Mile" is a 2 mile marathon being held on Saturday March 31 at the NRHS track. "The Tempesta 2 Mile" is for children ages 16 and under and begins at 10am.  A pledge sheet for each child and/or a registration, raffles and donations is what will be heavily relied upon for funds towards their syndrome research.  Community participation is what will make this a success!

If you would like to participate, please email Lori Mitchener <bostonsportsdesk@gmail.com>  or Lindsay Felix LindsayFelix@Verizon.net for a registration form or pledge sheet.
