Puppy Swim to Benefit Annual Fund at Burbank YMCA

It's time for a field trip for your furry friends. The Burbank YMCA is holding their first annual puppy swim fundraiser to benefit the annual fund on Sunday, August 25.

Head to the Y with your four-legged friend for a swim in the therapy pool Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. The benefit will feature free treats for all, and attendants will get to meet and shake paws with Bentley the Burbank Y Boston Strong Terrier mascot.

Burbank Y Executive Director Irene Collins enthusiastically accepted the idea for the puppy swim when her staff presented it, she said. She is pleased to offer this event and is happy to accept donations to the annual fund.

“The Y is so much more than a place to work out or swim,” Collins said. “In 2012, the Burbank Y gave over $200,000 in free programs and child care services to local individuals and families who could not otherwise afford them. With the weakened economy, request for support has grown. Increasing donations to our annual fund has become an even more important part our responsibility,” she said.

The cost for the puppy swim is $20 per dog for a 30 minute swim. Register in person at the Y or call 781-944-9622. Don't forget to bring proof of a rabies vaccination.
