Reading Businesses Pass Tobacco Test

According to a Patch post, a 16-year-old attempted to purchase tobacco in a check up on local stores.

Selling tobacco to underage customers is a concern. But according to a recent test run at stores around Reading, there's currently no reason for worry in town.

According to a Patch board post by Lauren Dustin, on Thursday, Sept. 12, between 3-7 p.m., a 16-year-old supervised by the Tobacco Program Coordinator visited each of the 20 tobacco vendors in Reading.

The object of the visit was to attempt to purchase cigarettes or small cigars without showing identification. But at each stop, the minor was refused service after employees checked for ID as they are required to do by law.
