Wine Tasting & Gift Basket Giveaway
Where/when: Busa Wine & Spirits, Friday from 4-7 p.m.
Why go: Come in for a complimentary tasting of and enter to win a Fat Bastard gift basket. Winner will be announced at the tasting. Basket includes; 2 bottle stoppers, 2 wine glasses, a wine key a t-shirt and hat—you just need to provide the wine. For the eighth consecutive year, consumers can purchase Fat bastard wines to help raise awareness and critical funds for the breast cancer cause.
Wine Tasting to Benefit Creative Arts
Where/when: The Wine Bunker, Saturday from 2-5 p.m.
Why go: Support Creative Arts during October's National Arts & Humanities Month. The Wine Bunker will host a free Wine Tasting, with donations collected to benefit Creative Arts. The Wine Bunker will be featuring 6-7 bottles of Reserve Wines from South America.
'A Taste of North Reading' Food Pantry Benefit
Where/when: Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Why go: Come taste food from a dozen local restaurants, and feed others in the process. A hundred precent of the ticket price for dinner goes to the North Reading Food Pantry. There will also be a silent auction comprised of donations from local businesses.
North Reading Fire Department Open House
Where/when: North Reading Fire Department, Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Why go: The North Reading Fire Department invites all residents to its annual open house. October is National Fire Safety Month and during the open house, families will learn about fire prevention, view static displays of fire, emergency medical service, technical rescue and hazardous materials response equipment. Those in attendance will be offered free Papa Gino's pizza. For more information you may contact the Fire Station at 978-664-3112.
Reading Public Library Free Concert Series—Italian Music Through the Ages
Where/when: Reading Public Library, Sunday at 3 p.m.
Why go: Performed by the Lexington Chamber Trio, members of the Lexington Symphony, Audrey Markowitz, Patricia Yee, and Kyoku Hida-Battaglia. They will perform selections that include a Medeival dance, a Renaissance madrigal, trio sonatas from the Baroque and Classical eras and selections from the great Romantic period of Italian opera. Composers include Albioini, Cambini, Vivaldi and Puccini as well music from Mozart’s opera Don Giovani.
