A New Trend in Beauty: Coco Collection and Indra Salon

A local fashion boutique joins with a local beauty spa. Their new slogan, "Coco Collection and Indra Salon Unite in Style" aptly describes their new venture.

When Nancy Dube, owner of , was first looking for a new space, she considered many opportunities. What began as a simple telephone call to her friends owners April Graffeo and Jose Bastistine, transpired into a unique concept in shopping.

After years in the former Olde Andover Village, Coco Collection reopened March 6 at 8 Main Street, sharing space with the full-service beauty spa.

Dube, who has owned the women's luxury fashion boutique for seven years, said that the former Vena Coco store had was in the Village location for over 30 years.

"Our lease had expired, and I was looking around for opportunities." Dube said the new Andover Village Square owners offered her space on Main Street, but she was apprehensive with the length of the renovation, and that was the "defining" reason for looking around for options.

She called the move, "a natural fit and synergy with hair styling, spa treatment and gorgeous clothes."

It was a conscious decision to integrate the space by keeping it an open concept. "We wanted it to be a seamless integration, and we have succeeded in doing so," she explained. Dube is also excited about the many cross promotions they will plan in the future.

“I love the energy, and it has been working exactly the way we hoped it would,” she said. There is a lot of crossover of clients, and Dube recalls a customer who had her hair done for a rehearsal dinner, needed a dress and walked out all ready for the evening.

The new shop has a sleeker open concept. Dube explained that they were able to incorporate what was there, adding racks to existing wall mirrors. She said it is also a great venue for runway shows, with the convenience of hair and clothes, all in one spot.

Dube, Graffeo and Batistine have collaborated in the past for photo shoots and fashion shows and plan to do more in the future.

Cindy and Tom Belhumeur of Swampscott, owners of the building, said they loved the concept from the beginning and called it a natural combination. "It is a whole new thing in Andover," said Cindy.

Graffeo who has been in Andover for 15 years, 3 in the present location, loved the idea of an add-on boutique. With a total space of 4600 square feet, she was able to rearrange space to accommodate Coco Collection, which only takes up 600 square feet.

According to Batistine, Indra Salon and Coco Collection both exude luxury and beauty. "I love the mix, and it is amazing transition for us."

When asked about hair product odors and dyes getting on the clothes, Dube explained that the hair processing takes place in a room at the back of the salon. The hair clients also wear robes and towels. It is understood they have to wait to try on the clothes, she added.

Already, Coco Collection's fashion grace the outside window space and plans for shared signage are in the works, according to Dube.

The hours are Monday-Friday, 10am-6pm and Saturday, 10am-5pm. The phone number is 978-480-0632 or check out the website.
