Building Façade and Signage Improvement Program Back This Summer

Reading’s Building Façade and Signage Improvement Program (BFSI) will begin later this summer, according to Staff Planner Jessie Wilson.

“The program will offer grants to business owners wishing to improve their building façade: signage, façade, windows, window boxes, lighting, etc.,” Wilson said.

The program is a collaboration between the Economic Development Committee (EDC) and BFSI Committee. The program aims to offer financial assistance to business owners looking to improve the exterior of their property. Last year’s program helped fund the installation of blade signs, awnings and window boxes around the downtown area.

The grant funding comes from the Downtown Improvement and Events Trust, which is funded by the Fall Street Faire, Wilson said.

The EDC will discuss details regarding the project at a meeting on July 10. After the meeting, the launch date and application deadline will be available.
