Celebrate Ryer's 100th Anniversary This Weekend

Ryers will hold a celebration Saturday for their 100th anniversary.

is holding a 100th anniversary party Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to celebrate their 100th birthday.

Stop by the Ryer's parking lot and celebrate the store with staff and other residents. The celebration will feature a bouncy house, penny candy, several vendors including Golden Girls Granola, Luna Farms, Prince Pizza and more. 

They will have "fun stuff for all ages," said Assistant Manager Christine Fisher.

Parents can enjoy a beer tasting and kids can enjoy donuts from Smolak Farms.

A unique part of the day will allow you to draw your way into Ryer's history. Attendants will be able to draw on a 4"X4" ceramic tile, which will eventually be glazed at the and then incorporated into Ryer's as part of a table top or a wall, Fisher said.

You will also have the opportunity to take a photo in a period costume. will be taking the pictures.

Want to attend the Apple Festival, too? Jump on a hayride from Ryer's to the Apple Festival. Parking for the event will be at the Batchelder School all day, or Bank of America or Reading Co-Operative Bank after 1 p.m.

Ryer's has been celebrating their special anniversary all week by offering different discounts each day. On Thursday, customers will receive $1 off a pound of cold cuts and Friday evening they will hold a wine tasting from 4 to 7 p.m. The store is also participating in the featuring products and produce from Carlson Orchards, Turnpike Street Jams and Essex County Apiaries.
