Dirty Doodle Coming to Reading

Kaitlyn Fusco is opening the dog boutique and self-wash facility The Dirty Doodle.

Stoneham resident Kaitlyn Fusco is opening The Dirty Doodle, a new dog boutique and self-wash facility, at 143 Main St., Reading. Stop by for the "projected grand opening" the weekend of Saturday, Nov. 10.

"The Dirty Doodle is a dog boutique and self-wash with a strong focus on and dedication to holistic foods and treats, force free training methods, animal rescue causes and consumer education about the medical consequences of poor canine nutrition," Fusco said.

Instead of taking your dog to the groomer, you can bring your dog to the Dirty Doodle and use their equipment to wash and dry your pup. You can make an appointment if you want to secure a spot, but an appointment is not necessary. The cost for a wash is $16 and that includes use of their tubs, towels, hydraulic tables for blow-drying and a wide variety of shampoos and conditioners. You can also add on extras for a few dollars, like a tooth brush and toothpaste. While you are there, ask about their photographer who will snap photos of your pet in either the boutique or on-location.

The Dirty Doodle will also offer organic dog foods and treats, dietary supplements, designer collars and leashes, seat belts and other products your furry friends will love.

"We believe strongly in the benefits of proper canine nutrition and are working with a local vet to ensure that our product line remains top of the line and that we are able to provide our customers with the relevant facts and education about these important issues," Fusco told Patch.

The boutique also features hand-made items such as beds, bandannas, bow ties, roses for collars and other items. Each item can be custom made on site and "each product is made with love."

Another important aspect of her business is to promote dog adoptions and work with local shelters.

"We are more than just a retail location, however, as we all strongly believe in the mission and work of local animal rescue organizations. Rescue animals have a very important place in all of our hearts and we want to do what we can for them as well as the community as a whole," Fusco said. "In particular, we will be working closely with shelters in the community and the MSPCA at Nevins Farm to provide opportunities for older animals and longer-term shelter residents to have increased exposure to potential adopters."

The Dirty Doodle will be open Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 781-872-1676 for more information or visit their website.
