Leah's Salon Now Open on Haven Street

Reading Resident Leah Lam opened the salon on Haven Street.

Resident and hair stylist Leah Lam opened the new salon Leah’s at 77 Haven Street. The salon is only 500 square feet and Lam is the only stylist right now.

"The salon I opened is a very small salon and it's a concept that I hope catches on," Lam said.

The "small, inviting" salon provides more of a personal experience for women getting a hair cut or treatment.

"It's a place to not be forgotten," Lam explained.

She has three chairs in the salon and is open to hiring another stylist in the future. For now, she is the only stylist and has been cutting hair for more than 20 years. She fell in love with styling in her mother's salon while growing up and gave her first hair cut when she was 12-years-old.

On her list of services you will find: hair cut, color and multi-dimensional color, blowout, updo for weddings or other events and waxing. The salon features jewelry and hair accessories as well as products such as Pureology, it’s a 10, Fairy Tales and Woody’s.

She plans to decorate the salon walls with artwork by students who attend Creative Arts and local artists. She believes that "having art around you and in your life is important and a great way to express yourself."

“We’re excited to welcome yet another new business to the vibrant Haven Street shopping district,” Town Manager Peter I. Hechenbleikner said in a recent press release. “This area has undergone a true renaissance over the past 12 months, with the opening of the 30 Haven condominiums and Zinga, and the re-opening of Reading stalwarts such as The Hot Spot and Sense of Wonder. The Town of Reading wishes Leah great success with her new endeavor.”

She credits her family and friends for helping her to get the salon up and running, and mentioned that her "second hand" Michelle Cardello is an integral part of the salon.

The salon is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 781-944-5324 to make an appointment.
