Portland Pie Now Open

Welcome to Portland Pie-- That's what you'll hear when you walk through the door of the new pizza place on Haven Street. The spacious eatery opened earlier this month and is already creating a buzz around town.

Something that sets them apart from other pizza shops: their flavored dough. You can choose basil, beer, garlic or wheat dough. Want to go gluten free? They have you covered. Try the gluten free sweet basil dough.

The shop offers more than just pizza. Other menu items include salads, calzones, pasta, sandwiches and more. Given that they originated in Maine, they serve fresh lobster meat all summer.

The interior of the restaurant features exposed brick walls and a fireplace in the center. According to Chief Operating Officer Joe O'Neil, the restaurant seats 170 and soon will have outdoor seating for about 20 people.

If you plan to eat there often, join their frequent "pie-er" club. For every dollar you spend you'll get a point, and when you get to 300 points they'll give you $25, plus a free $10 item on your birthday. They have double point lunches and other specials to take advantage of.

"We love being part of the downtown community," O'Neil said.

Stop by the restaurant at 30 Haven Street next to Zinga Frozen Yogurt and check it out for yourself.
