RMHS Retail Banking Students Attend MSBA Competition at Federal Reserve Bank

READING, Mass. - Reading Memorial High School students from the Reading Co-operative Bank’s Retail Banking course competed in the annual Massachusetts School Bank Association (MSBA) Conference at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston. 

As part of the conference, RMHS students took part in the annual “Banking Bowl” competition, a contest in which 24 high schools from all over Massachusetts competed in three events: Product Development, Marketing Campaign, and Banking Trivia. In addition, all students participated in the essay portion of the competition.

At RMHS, the Reading Co-operative Bank educational office partners with the Business and Technology Department to offer the Retail Banking course.  The course is designed to offer students practical experience interacting with the public, by processing various bank transactions with emphasis on responsibility, confidentiality, security, accountability, and accuracy.  Students also participate in bank-related community service and outreach programs, as well as gain financial literacy.

“I think that Reading Co-operative Bank is doing a wonderful job in exposing these kids to all areas of finance and banking. These events are always very informative for the students and ignite additional levels of interest in the minds of RMHS Retail Banking course students,” says Mike Foley, Branch Manager at the RMHS office of Reading Co-operative Bank.
