Best of This Week's Blogs

Check out what your fellow North Reading residents are writing about.

North Reading Patch recently launched blogs on our site. We already have a group of regular North Reading bloggers who are contributing during the week.

Here are some of the blogging highlights from the past week:

  • Julia Whitney Robarts shared a great recipe for American Chop Suey called Dee's Delish Dish. Julia wrote, "It's warm, meaty and satisfying, and as a bonus can be eaten with just one hand."
  • Laura Kernan blogged about tips that will keep you safe in the sun this summer. Laura wrote, "Besides limiting your exposure to non-peak times (before 10:00 a.m. and after 4:00 p.m.) one way of enjoying the sun while staying protected from sunburns and UV rays is to keep covered when outside. Wearing long shirts and pants, plus a hat and sunglasses will block a good amount of the suns rays. Darker colored clothing and a tighter weave block more sun that looser, lighter colored clothing. There is also clothing available now with coatings to protect the wearer from the sun. These can be effective, but it is important to remember that these coatings will fade over time with washing."
  • Director, Helena Minton, wrote about the library's new catalog. Helena introduced the new system Evergreen. She wrote, "What is Evergreen?” one of our library users asked the other day. Evergreen is the new library circulation system and on-line catalog that the Flint Memorial Library, along with 34 other libraries from Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC), will be launching over Memorial Day weekend. The system will go “live” on Tuesday, May 31."

Keep checking for our latest blogs throughout the week. We are always looking for new bloggers too. Check out this article about five reasons why you should blog on North Reading Patch. Let us know if you want to join the team.
