Five Reasons to Get Outside This Weekend

A Green Eggs and Ham Brunch is just one of the events happening in the area this weekend.

After a cloudy week of rain, there are a lot of opportunities to get out of the house this weekend.

Here are five things you can do in Reading and North Reading:

Where/when: , 235 Park St., North Reading, 10 a.m.
Why go: There will be a full brunch with green eggs and ham – plus a reading of the book and a visit from the Cat in the Hat. It is $7 for children (10 and under), $10 for adults and a $40 family maximum.

Where/when: , 64 Salem St., Reading, 7 a.m.
Why go: It was National Running Day earlier this week so why not go for a run on Saturday morning to celebrate! Each Saturday, a group of local runners go for a recreational four- to five-mile run starting at Memorial Park. The pace is easy to moderate and the run wraps up before 8 a.m.

Bake sale to benefit Bring Back the Fourth in North Reading

Where/when: , 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday
Why go: All proceeds of the bake sale will go to bringing the Fourth of July celebration back to North Reading. There is less than a month to go until the Fourth and volunteers continue to raise money to make the celebration a reality.

Where/when: , 175 Park St., North Reading, 9 a.m.
Why go: If you’re trying to stay away from baked goods, there is another way to give to the Fourth of July in North Reading. The Recycling Committee, Bring Back the 4th Committee and North Reading Masons are holding an E-Waste Day. The pricing is: $8 for small items, $15 for medium and $25-50 for large. All contributions over cost will benefit the Fourth of July in North Reading.

Where/when: , 343 Main St., Reading, 7 p.m.
Why go: Once a month, the Natural Food Exchange hosts an information forum that is run by Healthy Villi, which supports those with celiac disease and their families.
