Five Things to Know Today: Nov. 1

Your guide to events and happenings in Reading and North Reading today.

Today is Thursday, Nov. 1. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. The weather. The temperature will reach 55 degrees today and drop to 36 overnight. Expect cloudy skies and some rain.

2. Reading Book sale. Stop by the Reading Public Library for their book sale. Fill a bag with books from the Book Sale Room for only $5.

3. North Reading basketball clinic. The North Reading High School boys basketball team is offering a skills clinic for boys in grades 4 through 6. The clinic will run for three Thursdays: Nov. 1, 8 and 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the NRHS gymnasium. The cost is $60.

4. NANOWRIMO Writing Session. The Flint Memorial Library will be hosting a NANOWRIMO writing session at 6:30 p.m.

5. Reading Trash pickup. Don't forget that Reading trash, recycling and leaf pickup in Reading is postponed one day all week. For more information, please contact the DPW at 781-942-9077.
