Five Things to Know Today: Nov. 29

Your guide to Reading and North Reading today.

Today is Thursday, Nov. 29. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. The weather. Today will be cloudy with a high near 39, tonight a low around 24.

2. Buy a Bed campaign. The Mission of Deeds, a Reading nonprofit organization, started its 2012 Buy a Bed Campaign Nov. 16. They raise funds to buy new bed sets for those in need in Middlesex and Essex counties. Place your donation in the donation boxes placed at various businesses in Reading and North Reading.

3. Preschool Storytime. Stop by the Flint Memorial Library for storytime for kids ages four and five at 9:30 a.m. Registration is requested.

4. North Reading Pedestrian Sidewalk Committee. The Sidewalk Committee will meet at North Reading Town Hall at 6:30 p.m. A pedestrian survey update and GIS mapping of sidewalks update are both items on the agenda.

5. 2013 Sights of Reading Calendar for sale. Reading Girl Scouts have produced the calendar and all profits from the sale of the calendar will be used to fund the scouts’ community service projects. You can purchase the calendar at Gregory's and The Hitching Post.
