Five Things to Know Today: Oct. 24

Your guide to Reading and North Reading today.

Today is Wednesday, Oct. 24. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. The weather. The temperature will reach 50 degrees today and drop to 41 overnight. Expect partly cloudy skies.

2. Reading Conservation CommissionThe Conservation Commission will meet at Reading Town Hall at 7 p.m. A bylaw change discussion is on the agenda.

3. North Reading Land Utilization Committee. The Land Utilization Committee will meet at North Reading Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. A Riverwood site visit and open space plan are both items on the agenda.

4. Oktoberfest. Stop by the Reading Senior Center for Oktoberfest at noon. Lunch will be served and the band OOMPAH will entertain from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

5. Solar power presentation. North Reading resident Jonathan Bird will be giving a free presentation on solar power at the Flint Memorial Library at 7 p.m.
