Five Things to Know Today: Oct. 31

Your guide to Reading and North Reading today.

Today is Wednesday, Oct. 31. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. The weather. The temperature will reach 63 degrees today and drop to 37 overnight. Showers are expected throughout the day.

2. Halloween. Happy Halloween! Trick-or-treating is still on in Reading. Reading Assistant Town Manager Bob LeLacheur urges residents to be careful while trick-or-treating in town. According to North Reading Town Manager Greg Balukonis, the town leaves the decision to trick or treat up to individual parents.

"As of this morning, there are no live wires on the ground that could endanger trick or treaters," he said.

3. Trash pickup. Trash pickup in North Reading will be today. Trash, recycling and leaf pickup in Reading is postponed one day all week. For more information, please contact the DPW at 781-942-9077.

4. Bingo. Play a game of Bingo at the Edith A. O'Leary Senior Center at 1:15 p.m.
