Five Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 23

Your guide to events and happenings in North Reading.

Today is Thursday, Feb. 23. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. Bring an umbrella. Expect showers in the morning. The temperature will reach 50 degrees this afternoon and drop to 34 in the evening. 

2. Ladies Night. Stop by North Reading Antiques and Collectibles on Main Street for Ladies Night at 4 p.m. Bring your jewelry for free appraisals. Local artist Elaine Coy will be hand-painting beautiful furniture pieces. All attendants will receive a free flower and refreshments will be available.

3. Sparky's Puppets. Attend a puppet show at the library about a raccoon sleuth who uses a secret code to unlock the secrets of library books. The show starts at 11 a.m.

4. A taste of home at the library. Stop by the library at 7 p.m. for blues and jazz with The Joy of Sax, led by Steve Swartz and selected readings from The Dirty Life: A Memoir of Farming, Food, and Love, by Kristin Kimball. Bring a favorite dessert to share.

5. Stump trivia. Head to the Great American Tavern at 8 p.m. for a game of trivia.
