Girl Scout Calendar to Benefit Local Charities

Calendar to be available at the Reading Fall Street Faire, local businesses.

Three Reading Girl Scouts at the Reading Fall Street Faire will offer you the chance to get a view of Reading’s best sites all year as they attempt to raise enough money to earn their Girl Scouts Gold Award.

Troop Leader Michelle Kramer said that scouts and Students Grace Stroman, Kasey Cook and Mary Kate Kelley have produced the 2012 “Sights of Reading” calendar with each month displaying an 8 ½” X 11” photo of a sight in Reading.

The “Sights of Reading” booth has been funded by and will be located near the top of Haven Street. The calendars will be on sale for $12 or two for $20.

The calendar produced in 2010, Kramer said, sold out.

“The troop received numerous calls looking for the calendar again” Kramer said.  “We had not realized the impact that the calendar had made in 2010 but are excited to be bringing it back this year.”

If you can’t visit the booth during the street fair, calendars will be available at Gregory’s Restaurant on Main Street and afterward.

All profits from the sale of the calendar will be used to fund the scouts’ community service projects, Kramer said.

The Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can attain, according to Kramer, and is meant to help develop a scout as a leader.
