Hurricane Irene on Her Way Up the Coast

At , a cashier said customers have been buying extra water. They have had a few people stocking up on food, but not an extraordinary amount.

If we get the hurricane one thing to remember is your window air conditioners. The plastice slides that come out from the AC will not stop hurricane winds and may be blown in. To be safe remove the AC from the window.

I don't know what to do. My air conditioner was put in the window with a plexi glass sheet so I cannot remove it from the window. The plexi glass piece is about 12 by 12. I live on the ground floor of a townhouse where the AC is about 6 inches from the lawn surface. Do I need to use an air conditioner cover over the outside? I hope not as it will prevent me from using the AC and the humidity is bad.

Carlos - Chill. You'll be OK. Particularly with the AC that low.
