UPDATED: North Reading Fourth of July Fireworks Postponed Until Next Year

The fireworks were originally cancelled due to weather.

The Bring Back the Fourth Committee met last night and has decided to postpone the Fourth of July fireworks until next year.

The Fourth of July Fireworks were postponed due to weather. The severe thunderstorms on July 4 caused .

"After long and thorough deliberation, the Fourth of July Committee has decided not to reschedule the fireworks this year for a number of reasons," Chairman of the Bring Back the Fourth Committee Fred Chalmers said. "Be assured that there is no one more disappointed about this than the members of the committee, who worked so hard and so long to make it happen. All our efforts and every nickel of money remaining will be redirected toward making the 2013 celebration bigger and better. To help ensure that next year will be a success, we will continue our fundraising efforts throughout the year, and welcome new members to join us to help Bring Back the 4th (again)."
