I can not believe that the Town is not helping it's residents clean up the storm damage. I would think the the level of tree damage would justify the DPW helping with the removal of these massive piles. Free use of the compost is not nearly enough for those of us who don't own a pickup truck.

I called to report a tree blocking Haverhill St. A bulldozer came out and pushed the tree from the road so far into my property and crushed 2 large Canadien Hemlocks. Not Happy

I am really grateful that I was fortunate to get power back last night. 24 hours without was not pleasant. Hoping the rest of the down gets quick resolution to their woes as well.

I am very grateful that others and myself got their power restored too, the RMLD and our DPW are fantastic. I'm just questioning the Town's decision not to help with curbside cleanup. They have provided that terrific service in the past, after lesser storms. I would hope that they will re-access the damage and opt for the curbside option.

The town a few years back after a storm was overloaded with residents abusing the curbside after a storm. Removal does not include root balls and fence removal.

how about you let the town pick up the month or two worth of damage without stuff from your backyard! John I don't recall the town picking up private trees in the last 10 years

Allen, I don't recall the specific storms, but the Town has hauled away "private tree" damage on multiple occasions in the past. When they come to an abusers pile of junk (i.e. broken fences & backyard junk) they simply leave it behind. I believe that a rash decision was made here, before the powers to be were able to obtain a more detailed survey of the damage, town-wide.

This week is a leaf collection week. Since many people (at least in my neighborhood) haven't gotten around to raking yet, why not make this a branch removal week? I'd gladly toss some broken branches into the truck and put my leaves out another time.

Perhaps this issue will be addressed at tonight's Selectmens meeting.
