Samantha's Harvest Third Annual 5K Run and Family Walk June 9

Participants will help raise money for organizations such as the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC), Reading Public Schools, Criterion Stoneham Early Intervention Program of Woburn and more.

Samantha's Harvest Third Annual 5K Run and Family Walk will take place June 9 at 10 a.m. Samantha’s Harvest, a non-profit organization devoted to enhancing the lives of individuals with Down syndrome, is hosting the walk, which will start at the Reading Memorial High School Stadium.

According to a recent release, the proceeds will benefit organizations such as the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC), Reading Public Schools, Criterion Stoneham Early Intervention Program of Woburn, The ARC of East Middlesex, the Department of Cardiology at Children's Hospital, Boston, the Woburn Launch Program, VSA arts of Massachusetts, and the Special Olympics Northeast Golf Program.

"Samantha's Harvest also provides scholarships for students entering the field of Special Education," the release said.

If you are interested in participating, you can pre-register online for the run or walk until 4 p.m. on June 8. You can view race information, including entry fees here. If you prefer to wait, you can register on the day of the race starting at 9 a.m., but only cash will be accepted. Top runners will receive prizes.  

After the race, runners and volunteers are invited to Grumpy Doyle's for half-priced appetizers, just show your race number or volunteer t-shirt.
