10:40 a.m. Quannapowitt Players are not canceling their 4 and 7 p.m. performances of 8 The Play today.
Saturday, Feb. 9—
11:20 a.m. Mail will not be delivered today.
8:22 a.m. The statewide travel ban is still in effect. Anyone caught driving could face up to a year in prison and a $500 fine.
8:22 a.m. According to NECN, MBTA service will not be restored today. The goal is Monday, they will be evaluating later today.
Friday, Feb. 8—
1:21 p.m. They will stop collecting tolls at 2 pm.
1:20 p.m. Governor Patrick: "I have signed an executive order banning vehicle traffic effective at 4 p.m. today."
10:34 a.m. Latest forecast.
9:57 a.m. The RMHS drama performance of Insanity will be rescheduled to next weekend on February 16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and February 17 at 2 p.m. Tickets purchased for this weekend will be honored next weekend.
9:53 a.m. The Reading Public Library is open today until noon.
9:12 a.m. The following is a message from Assistant Town Manager Robert W. LeLacheur, Jr.: In anticipation of the major winter storm expected today and Saturday, and in accordance with section 2.6 of the Town of Reading Traffic Rules and Regulations, the Chief of Police is restricting parking on all residential streets in Reading from Friday at 12 noon until Sunday at 6 a.m. This restriction will facilitate snow removal by the DPW. Violators of this ban will be ticketed and possibly towed if they are impeding snow removal. Again, no parking on any residential streets beginning Friday at 12 noon and ending on Sunday at 6 a.m. Please see the Town of Reading website at www.readingma.gov for further updates to storm related information and hours of operation for municipal buildings.
Thursday, Feb. 7—
7:40 p.m. Reading Public Schools are closed Friday.
6:15 p.m. #MBTA Service Suspended on All Lines Effective 3:30 PM on Friday, Feb. 8 this includes T and commuter rail and bus. The governor has asked all drivers to be off the road by noon.
5:20 p.m. To prepare for the storm, the Reading DPW workers are putting plows on their trucks, chains on tires and preparing all of the equipment. They have also arranged for contractors to assist if necessary.
5:20 p.m. All state courthouses and offices will close at 3:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
4:19 p.m. According to the DPW, trash pickup for Friday, Feb 8, will be picked up as scheduled. The contractors will have extra trucks collecting trash to make sure they are finished early before the storm. Make sure that your trash is put out by 6:30 a.m.
4:15 p.m. Due to the expected blizzard, the ACT Test that was scheduled at Austin Preparatory School in Reading for this Saturday, February 9 has been postponed to Saturday, February 16.
