Borawski, Dockser Win Reading School Committee Seats

Elaine Webb was also elected to the School Committee in Tuesday's election.

Jeanne Borawski and Linda Dockser won School Committee seats in Tuesday's town election.

The pair defeated Philip Vaccaro for two seats with three-year terms.

Here's the unofficial vote count:
  • Borawski: 2,456
  • Dockser: 2,389
  • Vaccaro: 1,859
Elaine Webb also defeated Nicholas Face for a School Committee seat for one year. Webb earned 2,246 votes to Face's 1,545.

John Halsey and Kevin Sexton were also elected to the Board of Selectmen in an uncontested race.

From the town web site: Borawski: 2,456 Dockser: 2,389 Vaccaro: 1,859 (2,216 blanks)

The library project (Article 1) won a majority vote (2430 to 1899), but did it need a 2/3 vote to succeed? I can't find an article that states the result authoritatively.

I'm pretty sure it only needs a 2/3 vote to clear Town Meeting and make it to the townwide ballot. From there I think a straight majority is all that's needed. I'll try to find something definitive as well.
