On Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. representatives of the Andover Association of the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ (UCC) will install Rev. Debra Adams into their association. UCC clergy and area ministers are invited to robe. Child care will be provided and refreshments will be served afterward in Fellowship Hall.
Rev. Adams was called to serve as Associate Pastor at Central Congregational Church, UCC in Chelmsford on February 26, 2012. She came from Pilgrim Church, UCC in Lexington where she served as Minister of Education for eleven years. In addition to serving as a pastor, Rev. Adams serves as director of the Sandra Lane Nursery School in Reading, which she purchased in 1990.
She graduated from Andover Newton Theological School in Newton, MA in 2009. She was ordained on May 20, 2012 at the First Congregational Church, UCC in Reading. She began her ministry at Central Congregational Church in March of 2012 and is delighted to be part of such a vibrant faith community. She has a passion for social justice and mission, for environmental issues that affect God’s creation, and for family ministry.
Rev. Adams embraces the mission statement of the UCC which calls for inclusivity as well as active engagement in our communities and in the world. She states, “If we, as individuals, choose to express our love of God through participation in a church community, we need to find a way to do that which includes both an invitation of welcome into the church as well as a willingness to interact with the surrounding community.” In that spirit of welcome, we invite you to join us for this inspirational service.
