Winter Solstice Celebration

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Wakefield invites you to their annual Winter Solstice Celebration on Friday, December 21 at 7 PM in the church sanctuary at 326 Main Street. To welcome back the return of lighter days after the darkest night of the year, the Winter Solstice, this celebration will include much merry making. Watch as the darkness takes over the earth and how we bring light to the darkness with merriment and music. Hear poems and readings from the serious to the silly. Watch good and light triumph over darkness and evil. Lend your voice to sing along holiday and solstice selections. Special guests, the Ha’ Penny Dancers of Belmont, MA will kick up their heels with bells on!

The Wassail Reception in the Social Hall following the celebration will include refreshments and by a circle sing of familiar songs and carols led by the Rise Up Singing Group.

The celebration is hosted by Reverend Maddie, the Ritual Planning Committee and the Winter Solstice Planning Committee. Free will offering baskets will be at the rear of the sanctuary and in the Social Hall to help offset expenses.
