Not-Too-Stuffy Book Group: Discusses The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri

Be a part of the BIG discussion!  This month’s Not Too Stuffy gathering will be a discussion of Reading’s Big Read title The Namesake led by librarian Andrea Fiorillo and retired English teacher Barbara Currie.  All are welcome.
Meet the Ganguli family, new arrivals from Calcutta, trying their best to become Americans in Massachusetts even as they pine for home. The name they bestow on their firstborn, Gogol, betrays all the conflicts of honoring tradition in a new world – conflicts that will follow Gogol through divided loyalties, comic detours, and wrenching love affairs.
You are invited for a friendly discussion; books are available to borrow at the Library or the Center. Not-Too-Stuffy meets the 3rd Thursday of each month in the Senior Center Lounge, 49 Pleasant Street. All are welcome to attend and no registration is necessary, bring a friend.
