Community Corner

Support Broadway in Our Own Backyard!

The Colonial Chorus Players of Reading, MA announces a CALL TO ACTION to the residents of Reading and surrounding North Shore communities. The historic firehouse and grounds where they have met, rehearsed and performed for over 50 years is in need of necessary repairs to continue to provide quality theatrical entertainment and education to the community. The Old Hose House, located at 1249 Main Street was built in 1894, and purchased from the Northern Residents Association by the Colonial Chorus Players in 1972.

The Colonial Chorus Players, a Reading-based-non-profit, provides quality theatrical entertainment that showcases the diverse talents of their family of members and volunteers, both on and off stage, and educates people of all ages in the theater arts through mentoring, workshops and summer programs. Colonial Chorus Players is an active member of the Eastern MA Association for Community Theater, the American Association of Community Theater, and member of Reading/North Reading Chamber of Commerce. Colonial Chorus Players offers theater education opportunities including summer workshops for youth (age 7 to18) where students learn all aspects of putting on a musical production and produce a professional quality performance at a local venue.

Colonial Chorus Players supports the annual Reading High School Scholarship Fund, performs at the Burbank YMCA, Reading Friends and Family Day, Reading's Fall Street Faire, Reading's Tree Lighting Ceremony, and Winchester Hospital. CCP originated from a group of Birch Meadow School PTA members in the late 1950's and officially became a non-profit in May 1961.

Please donate to this important effort. Your support will help keep the performing arts alive and accessible in Reading and on the North Shore. No Amount is too small, and all donor names will be acknowledged at their performances through 2015. We are offering several levels of donations, each with benefits of free tickets and program advertising.
