Unfinished: Voices of Hopes' 5th Annual Cancer Research Fundraiser

Voices of Hope Presents 5th Annual Gala to Benefit Cancer Research

North Shore Music Theatre hosts celebration of singers and songwriters gone too soon

Donna Summer, LaVerne Andrews, George Harrison and Dan Fogelberg were all brilliant performers in their own right and each one was silenced too soon by cancer. On Saturday, September 7th, Voices of Hope, a local organization dedicated to raising funds for cancer research through music and dance, will pay tribute to each of these amazing performers and many more with a concert at the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, Mass. Proceeds will benefit the Termeer Center for Targeted Therapies at Mass General Hospital.

The musical performance titled, “Unfinished,” will feature an array of song and dance selections that sweep eras and styles. Each musical selection will represent an artist who was affected by cancer – an illness that also connects the more than 100 members of Voices of Hope. Since 2009, the organization has brought local musical theater performers together to raise more than $185,000 to support cancer research.

Guided by master of ceremonies Jordan Rich of WBZ News Radio 1030, audience members will be treated to the ‘40s harmonies of the Andrew Sisters, the ‘60s pop fun of the Beach Boys, the ‘70s styling of Dan Fogelberg and the disco age of Donna Summer. Additional highlights include works from Gershwin and Hammerstein, and staged numbers from the Broadway productions 42 StreetChicagoLes MisérablesThe Lion KingNewsies andSouth Pacific. Guest artist Candy O’Terry of Magic 106.7 WMJX and the Andover High School Show Choir will also perform.
