Cat Stuck in Tree in Reading

Can you help?

A Reading family's cat, Louis, is stuck in a tree and they are reaching out to the community for help. Their cat has been stuck in a tree for 48 hours now, he is wet, scared and hungry. They could not talk him down, and neither the fire department nor animal control in Reading will help, according to the family.

The cat is far up, about 30 feet, and the family cannot get to him. If you would be willing to climb the tree, or have a big ladder that may be able to help, please call
Christine at 857-234-7646.

Reading police won't help because they don't have an animal control department. The funds and the van they used for AC are now used for the parking department. I was told this by a Reading police officer after called about a stray dog. We are the only town in the area without an ACO.

quick update: he is still up there in the rain but I talked to the Animal Rescue League in Boston. They have a few other cats in trees to rescue first but they were very nice and helpful. Ihope that they can stop by today. I also reached a professional tree climber who would be willing to climb up and rescue Louis. But because of the rain, it is too slippery today. Thank you for your calls and ideas. It is great to live in such a helpful community. I will let you know when Louis is back home!

Did anyone ever see a cat skeleton in a tree?
