Four Young Residents Hope to Brighten Christmas for Sick Kids

Four karate students are hoping to gain as many donations as possible for Boston Children's hospital.

A group of four young Reading karate students are hoping to make the holiday season a bit brighter for patients at Boston Children's Hospital.

New black belt students Bryan Deuterio, Jack Kruse, Mardin Minasian and Elisa Alexander, all students of Reading karate dojo Elite Freestyle Karate, have set up a giving tree at each of the businesses locations.

Interested residents can pick up their tag from the tree, and then drop off items in the box next to the giving tree at Elite Freestyle Karate locations in Reading, Wilmington, Winchester or Lexington.

On each tree are tags with specific gifts the hospital is looking to have residents donate. The children seek as many donations as possible by December 5.

When the donation period ends, the karate students will deliver the toys in person to Boston Children's Hospital.

According to Deuterio, the group has a feeling of excitement knowning they can brighten the holiday for children in need of a smile.

"We want to make sure all the children have toys to play with while they are at the hospital," said Deuterio. "Knowing that me and my friends have the power to make a positive difference in other kids lives is a great feeling, especially around the holidays."
