Hundreds Honor National Champion Reading at Weekend Parade

Both the Reading Pop Warner football and cheerleading teams recently earned national championships.

Reading's national championship winning Pop Warner football and cheerleading teams rolled - and quacked - their way through town on Saturday afternoon.

The Reading Patriot Football team and Cheerleading D Squad were honored for their performances with a duck boat parade that also included a police and fire truck escort.

At least 100 fans lined main street and the area leading up to Reading Memorial High School, where the parade-goers walked to at the end of the route for a pizza party.

This was the first time in history Reading has won a Pop Warner football national titles, which the Rockets were able to do earlier this month during competition in Florida.

Editor's Note: The story has been corrected to indicate that the Reading Pop Warner program had previously never won a football title, though the town has previously won a cheerleading championship.
