Middle School Students Praise Reading Resident as Hero

In an article in the Daily Times Chronicle, a pair of eighth graders write about the heroic actions of a Reading resident following the Boston Marathon bombings.

A pair of Parker Middle School eighth graders published an article in the Daily Times Chronicle recently praising a Reading resident for his heroic actions during the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings.

According to the article, written by Kathleen Walsh and Olivia Reardon, the eighth grade Parker Leadership and Service students chose Shores Salter as their 2013 Heroes Among Us Award winner. Salter graduated Parker Middle School in 2006 and Reading High School in 2010.

Through their research, the students discovered that Shores rushed to the rescue of Roseann Sdoia. Shores tied a tourniquet to Sdoia's leg and left her with paramedics, not discovering her identity until several weeks later, according to the article.
