Reading Girl Scout Receives Recognition for Conservation Work

The Reading teenager was praised for her hard work on a variety of conservation projects.

Last week's Board of Selectmen wasn't all about dog parks, liquor licenses, and park renovations.

There was also a pause from town planning to say thanks to a hard-working local teenager.

Reading selectmen presented Reading Girl Scout Grace Stroman for her hard work in earning the Girl Scout Gold Award for her community service project.

Stroman's project served in "educating the residents of Reading about recreational opportunities in the town conservation lands via workshops, blazing a new entrance trail to the Town Forest, and designing and printing a guide book."

The project took about 80 hours, Stroman told board members as she received the award.
