Reading Middle School Students Honored by District Attorney

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan hosted 85 middle school students from around the region recently.

During a recent event in Westford, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan honored Reading middle school students for their leadership, judgement, and positive decision making, according to a press release from Ryan's office.

The Reading students were honored at the Middle School Peer Leadership Conference at Nashoba Valley Technical High School in Westford.

Students participated in the conference, which is sponsored by the District Attorney's Office, Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, and the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.

There were nine school districts that were represented, and students were chosen from Reading as role model students who have committed to making good decisions, including a commitment to substance-free living, according to Ryan.

A similar conference will be held next month, this time for area high school students.

“Our youth are under a tremendous amount of pressure whether it to be to fit in with their peers or to be academically or athletically successful,” said Ryan.  “It is refreshing to see these youth who have made good choices in their lives and are committed to healthy living. This program is about supporting those who exhibit the confidence, maturity and strength to make positive decisions everyday and to help them continue to be a role model in their community.”
