Reading Pop Warner to Celebrate National Titles With Rolling Rally

Reading football and cheerleading teams won national titles, and a celebration is scheduled for Saturday in town.

When each Boston sports team has taken home a championship victory in recent years, they've been greeted with a duckboat parade upon their return home.

On Saturday, a pair of Reading teams will receive the same treatment.

The national championship winning Reading Pop Warner D Team cheerleaders and Patriot Football Team players will be honored with a duckboat rally and parade through the streets of Reading as a reward for their historic victories.

A rolling rally will begin at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday at the corner of South Street and Main Street, ending at Birch Meadow Drive. After the rolling rally, the athletes will walk to Reading Memorial High School.

Residents are encouraged to park near the high school or Coolidge Middle School so they can line either side of Birch Meadow Drive near the corner of Main Street to cheer on the players and cheerleaders.

Supporters are welcome to come to a pizza party inside the RMHS cafeteria at around 3 p.m.

Editor's Note: The original article incorrectly said that players would walk from the Boys and Girls Club, and has since been updated.
