Reading Students Rewarded for Supporting Veterans

Students made holiday cards for veterans, and were rewarded with a visit from the Lowell Spinners.

Joshua Eaton School students helped brighten the holiday season for veterans in the Bedford VA Hospital. And as a reward, the Reading students had an exciting day of their own.

The Joshua Eaton students created holiday cards for veterans as a part of a the Lowell Spinners' annual Holiday Caravan.

During a Thursday assembly, students gave their cards to a variety of special guests and in turn had a chance to receive autographs, trading cards, and other gifts from the Spinners.

Among those in attendance were the Lowell Spinners and Nashua Silver Knights mascots, Miss Massachusetts Amanda Narcisco, former Boston Red Sox player Dick Berardino, Spinners front office members and the team's dancers.

Speakers told the students the importance of supporting veterans, and also spoke about the importance of respect.

Following the event, cards were delivered to the Bedford hospital. According to the Spinners, veterans have been extremely touched to receive the cards in the past, often moved to tears.
