Save the Date: Reading Fall Street Faire

The Reading Fall Street Faire will be on Sunday, September 9.

The following was submitted by the Reading Fall Street Faire Coordinating Committee:

The Reading Fall Street Faire Coordinating Committee asks community residents to save the date for the fourth annual street fair. Looking to build on the excitement from the past, the Committee wants to invite all community residents to participate in this year’s event planning and performance. The Faire will be held on Sunday September 9th, 2012 from noon until 5 p.m. The Faire committee and volunteers are working hard to bring back the popular events from the past and add new attractions for this year’s Faire, and if you are interested in getting involved now or the day of the Faire please let us know.

The Faire will kick off with a 5K race in the morning, and starting at noon there will be well over a hundred vendors and exhibitors, live music, dancers, special guests and great food. Additionally, the Committee is bringing back popular amusements, children’s area and the dog show sponsored and produced by . More details will be forthcoming as planning unfolds.

The Coordinating Committee is composed of town residents and is helmed by Steve Goldy, Ben Tafoya, and Leslie Leahy. The range of opportunities for volunteers is very broad. The Committee is looking for residents interested in helping with managing the website and social networking, logistics, recruitment of vendors and sponsors, entertainment and day of the event workers. If you enjoy meeting deadlines, interfacing with the town and public, and having a good time the Committee wants you!

For the past three years, the Fall Street Faire Committee has conducted a survey of the vendors of the Faire and asked, “Will you participate again in this Faire?” and the overwhelming response was ‘YES!’  This Faire has now become the fabric of our community, and the success of this Faire is largely due to the volunteers that give their time and energy. Please visit the Street Faire website for contact information or email FallStreetFaire@ci.reading.ma.us or call 781-944-3178 to get involved (Facebook??). A Committee member will be back in touch shortly.

This a wonderful event for the Town of Reading. Hopefully Ben Tafoya will not sully it by parading around Candidate Elizabeth Warren as he did with Coupe Deval Patrick in 2010.
