NANOWRIMO: One Month, Two North Reading Authors

Thursday, October 4 at 7PM, North Reading authors Nancy Parsons and Danielle Masterson will talk about the novels they wrote in 30 days, last November, as part of National Novel Writing Month.

Have you wanted to write a novel but haven't been able to get around to it? Have you heard of NANOWRIMO, National Novel Writing Month, when people set out to write a novel in 30 days? Thursday, October 4 at 7 p.m., North Reading residents Nancy Parsons, and Danielle Masterson, who completed this amazing challenge last year, will be at the Flint Memorial Library. They will read from their work, talk about how they wrote their novels, and offer tips to others who want to write fiction. Come and meet them and be inspired by their accomplishments!

Nancy Parsons has had a long career in advertising and marketing. She is the author of five books, including her first novel The Dog That Managed Hedge Funds, and has ghostwritten or helped edit several more. She has also written a number of magazine articles, remedial education textbooks, and developed a curriculum for memoir writing. Nancy is presently ghostwriting a book on financial security in retirement.

A professional journalist for over 10 years, Danielle Masterson has worked for the Boston Herald’s Community Newspaper Company, the Boston Globe Magazine and, currently, AOL/Patch.com. A prolific non-fiction writer, she writes several pieces daily as editor of the Woburn Patch website. She has won awards for general excellence in education reporting. Her coverage of both the Stoneham Fire Department and Woburn Police Department received nominations in several contests. In November of 2011, she spearheaded the National Novel Month Writing project at the Flint Memorial Library, writing Olivia and Sean’s love story—tentatively titled Undercovers: Book One of the Overton Police Trilogy.
